London-born Irishman Bill Maloney’s controversial drama documentary BILLY & LILLY GO TO NEW YORK has been selected for the WATERFORD FILM FESTIVAL 2009.

Out of an average of 250-300 films submitted the festival carefully selects a total of only 15 feature films and documentaries. BILLY & LILLY GO TO NEW YORK will screen at 8:40 pm on Saturday 7 November at Greyfrairs Art Gallery, Greyfrairs , Waterford City.

BILLY & LILLY GO TO NEW YORK is a drama documentary with a unique twist of fact and fiction. When critically acclaimed maverick director Bill Maloney goes to New York to represent his nominated feature film at a NY film festival, he decides, because of his gritty working class Irish roots, to bypass the festival glitz, in favor of shooting a documentary about the under privileged and homeless people of New York.
Maloney began his project in London whilst waiting to hear if he had funding. When the budget news finally came it allowed for only two people.

In BILLY & LILLY GO TO NEW YORK Maloney and his camerawoman Lilly Starr take to the streets of London and New York with the passionate intention to highlight the plight of the sick and homeless. The cockney-speaking Irishman’s anti-establishment attitude and aggressive style of reporting put fear into the hierarchy of our planet. Billy and Lilly were killed fighting for ‘Right’.

BILLY & LILLY GO TO NEW YORK - for film followers who have a passion for truth and justice. You already believe that you cannot rely on official sources of information and realise that you need to look at alternative media in order to gain a better understanding of the world’s ruling establishments such as the Monarchy, Religious Institutions and Parliamentary and Federal Authorities. You may already believe that governments allow crime to exist because it is profitable!

Presenting the truth can be dangerous!

Running from the 6th to the 8th of November, the WATERFORD FILM FESTIVAL typically showcases a wide range of films including feature films, documentaries, animation, and short films from around the world. http://www.waterfordfilmfestival.com/index.html
